California State University-Chico, University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Oklahoma State University and Kansas State University were named the nation’s most outstanding student construction chapters of 2024 by the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC). The student chapters were each honored for one of four categories: Impact Award, Resilient/Emerging Student Chapter, Community Service and Construction Management Skills.
“These student chapters are lighting the way forward for our industry,” says Todd Roberts, the association’s national president and president of ERS Inc. in Jackson, Mississippi. “Their passion, creativity, and drive today are planting the seeds for the breakthroughs and leadership we’ll rely on in the future.”
The AGC Student Chapter Impact Award recognizes chapters that make a meaningful difference in the lives of their members, their communities, and the construction industry. California State University, Chico’s AGC Student Chapter 
earned this honor through its strong commitment to student engagement and professional development.
From hosting job walks and fall kickoff events to partnering with the Delta/Sierra and Shasta/Eureka AGC Districts, the chapter has created valuable opportunities for students to gain industry insight, stay informed on current legislation, and build essential connections within Northern California’s evolving construction landscape.
The New and Emerging Outstanding Student Chapter Award
Recognizes exceptional growth and engagement within a chapter’s first three years. Established in 2022, the University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s AGC Student Chapter has quickly built strong industry ties and grown its presence on campus. With support from local AGC mentors and faculty advisors, the chapter has led volunteer efforts, hosted networking events, and promoted student involvement—making a strong impact in a short time.
Oklahoma State University’s AGC Student Chapter is being honored for its outstanding community impact through the 
renovation of OSU staff member Brandi’s home. After Brandi faced financial hardship due to medical expenses, students contributed over 1,000 volunteer hours to complete critical repairs.
With guidance from the local AGC chapter and support from area suppliers, the students applied their construction management skills to restore the home—making a lasting difference in both their community and their professional growth.
Kansas State University’s AGC Student Chapter is being recognized for their outstanding construction management skills through two impactful projects. In the Seaton 52 Project, students led budgeting, scheduling, and planning for a $60,000 renovation of a collaborative space in Seaton Hall, working closely with KSU Facilities.
They also partnered with local contractors to build a 1,600-foot concrete sidewalk for Northview Elementary, coordinating 56 students over five weekends. These hands-on efforts highlight the chapter’s strong leadership, teamwork, and commitment to real-world learning.
The four winning chapters received $2,000 each, as well as an additional $1,000 travel stipend to attend AGC’s Annual Convention, which was held last month in Columbus, Ohio. The chapters were selected by a panel of judges made up of practicing commercial contractors.
Student chapters were evaluated on qualifying criteria in each of the four categories for exemplary demonstration of the AGC of America tenants of Skill, Responsibility & Integrity.
